Benchmark method
Dictation Latency Methodology
This methodology defines how Almond speed claims are measured and how teams can replicate the test using consistent conditions.
Measurement boundary
- Start timer at end of speech.
- Stop timer when final visible text appears in the target input field.
- Use identical spoken phrase and duration across products.
Test controls
Use the same Mac hardware profile where possible and keep non-essential background processes minimal.
Run multiple trials per product and report median plus spread.
Reporting format
Include phrase length, environment date, app context, and processing path assumptions.
Publish both summary claims and full method notes together.
Benchmark qualifier
Based on Almond internal testing (February 15, 2026): same 20-second spoken phrase, measured from end of dictation to visible final text result versus Wispr Flow and other cloud-first dictation models.
- Test date: 2026-02-15
- Input: Same 20-second spoken phrase
- Metric: Elapsed time from end of dictation to visible final result
- Comparison group: Wispr Flow and other cloud-first dictation models
